6 Mile Run✨

Ran 6 miles today with my friend!🏃🏼‍♀️💨

It was such a beautiful morning in NYC today. We had this run planned all week and I was so excited to see her.

Running with friends makes the run so much better! Felt like it flew by because we were just chatting the whole time.

Happy Saturday❤️❤️

... Read moreThat 6-mile run in NYC with my friend was such a highlight! It really got me thinking about how much running with a buddy transforms the experience. When I first started, running felt like a solitary endeavor, but meeting up with a friend completely changes the game. We were chatting the whole time, and before I knew it, we had covered 6 MILES! It truly felt like the miles just flew by. There's something magical about running through New York City on a beautiful morning. Every corner offers a new view, and the energy of the city just fuels you. However, city running also comes with its own unique set of challenges – like navigating busy streets, finding the best routes, and of course, tackling those unexpected inclines. I remember when we were TACKLING THIS BRIDGE, and then hit a pretty steep section that made me think, "SEND HELP THIS HILL SUCKS!" But having my friend there made all the difference. We encouraged each other, kept the conversation flowing, and pushed through it together. For anyone looking to embrace city runs or just make their long runs more enjoyable, I've got a few tips. First, find your running tribe! Whether it’s one friend or a small group, having someone to share the miles with provides incredible motivation and accountability. Plus, it makes the time pass so much faster, turning what could be a grueling workout into a fun catch-up session. Second, don’t shy away from those challenging routes. Hills and bridges might seem daunting, but conquering them gives you such a sense of accomplishment. My strategy for hills is to shorten my stride, keep my gaze up, and focus on steady breathing. It’s not about speed, but about maintaining momentum. And trust me, the views from the top, especially in a city like NYC, are always worth the effort! When planning city runs, I always recommend checking your route beforehand – especially if you're aiming for a specific distance like 6 MILES or trying to incorporate some elevation. Apps that show elevation changes can be a lifesaver. Also, hydrate well and fuel your body properly, especially before a longer run that involves significant climbs. It makes a huge difference in how you feel when you're saying "SEND HELP THIS HILL SUCKS!" halfway up. Finally, embrace the post-run reward. After pushing through, especially on a tough 6-MILE run, a SWEET TREAT:) or a relaxing stretch session feels absolutely earned. It’s a great way to celebrate your effort and look forward to your next run. Running isn't just about the physical challenge; it's also about soaking in those moments of joy, connecting with friends, and appreciating the beauty around you. It's these shared experiences and the feeling of accomplishment that keep me coming back for more, mile after mile. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or just starting your running journey, remember that every step counts, and having fun along the way is the most important part.
