🌸How I lost 40 lbs in 4 months🌸

Hey y’all! Let’s chat about keto! 🥑✨

Keto, or ketogenic, is a low-carb, high-fat diet designed to shift the body into a state of ketosis. In ketosis, the body burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. By drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing fat consumption, typically around 20-50 grams per day, the diet aims to help with weight loss, improve blood sugar control, and enhance mental clarity. When you’re on keto, you focus on “net carbs” instead of total carbs. Net carbs are the carbs that actually impact your blood sugar levels, and you calculate them by subtracting fiber & sugar alcohols from the total carbs. Here’s how it works:

🥑1. Subtracting Fiber:

• Fiber doesn’t raise your blood sugar, so you don’t count it. For example, if a food has 10 grams of total carbs and 4 grams of fiber, you subtract the 4 grams of fiber.

••So, 10g total carbs - 4g fiber = 6g net carbs.

🥑2. Subtracting Sugar Alcohols:

•Some sweeteners, like erythritol, don’t affect blood sugar, so you can subtract them too. If a food has 10 grams of total carbs, 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of erythritol, you subtract both the fiber and erythritol.

•• So, 10g total carbs - 4g fiber - 3g erythritol = 3g net carbs.

So how did I do it?

First, I cut out all the high-carb foods like bread, pasta, and sweets. At first, it was tough, but I found that replacing them with delicious alternatives like cauliflower rice, zoodles (zucchini noodles), & almond flour recipes made it so much easier. Nature oats keto bread in moderation is my favorite substitute for regular bread! There’s a substitute for almost everything on keto these days whether it be ketchup, tortillas, bread, bbq sauce, Etc!!

I also made sure to focus on eating healthy fats. My meals were filled with avocado, eggs, and olive oil.

For example, I’d start my day with a big, satisfying breakfast- like eggs cooked in butter with some bacon on the side. Lunch would be a buffalo chicken wrap on a keto friendly tortilla . My dinner would be baby back ribs with sugar free bbq sauce & my snack would be rebel ice cream, totally delicious!

~Staying hydrated~ I also drank lots of water & made sure to keep my electrolytes up, especially in the beginning when my body was adjusting.

Staying consistent was key & the pounds started coming off. And the best part? I felt more energetic and clear-headed & it also helped my hormonal imbalance!! It’s a simple way to eat that helps with weight loss, boosts energy, and keeps you feeling awesome. Plus, who doesn’t love a diet where butter is totally on the menu? 🧈

Note: Before starting any new diet program, it’s a always a good idea to check with your doctor to ensure it’s right for you

... Read moreHey there, fellow wellness seekers! Following up on my initial keto journey where I shed a significant 40 lbs in just 4 months, I wanted to dive deeper into the practical, day-to-day strategies that made this transformation possible. Many of you ask, 'How exactly do you do it?' or 'What does a 4-month keto before and after transformation truly look like?' I promise, it's more straightforward than you might think, but consistency is indeed your best friend. Navigating the First Month: The Adjustment Period (Keto 1 Month Progress) When I first started, that initial month was all about getting my body to switch from burning carbs to fat. This is often when people experience the 'keto flu' – feeling a bit sluggish, headaches, or irritability. My secret? Electrolytes! I couldn't stress enough how much keeping up with my sodium, potassium, and magnesium intake helped mitigate these symptoms. I made sure to add salt to my food, drank electrolyte-rich water, and sometimes even supplemented. Don't let this phase scare you off; it usually passes within a week or two, and then you start feeling that incredible energy boost. This is where you really start seeing early changes, moving towards a 'slimmer' feeling even if the scale hasn't drastically shifted yet. It sets the stage for a successful 40 lbs weight loss journey. Beyond Basics: Meal Variety and Smart Swaps for 4 Months You might wonder how I kept my meals exciting for an entire 4 months without getting bored. The key was variety and embracing keto-friendly substitutes. While cauliflower rice and zoodles are fantastic, I also explored things like lettuce wraps for tacos, almond flour for baking (think keto pancakes!), and making my own sugar-free sauces. For breakfast, beyond eggs and bacon, I'd often have a keto smoothie with avocado, spinach, protein powder, and almond milk. Lunch could be a huge salad with plenty of healthy fats like olive oil and cheese, topped with grilled chicken or steak. Dinners were often simple proteins with non-starchy vegetables cooked in butter or ghee. This approach not much only helps with overall weight loss but also specifically targets concerns like 'keto belly fat' by focusing on healthy, satiating fats. Staying Motivated: Beyond the Scale for Your 40 Lbs Transformation While seeing the numbers drop (like losing 40 lbs in 4 months!) is incredibly motivating, I also focused on other non-scale victories. Did my clothes fit better? Yes! Did I have more energy throughout the day? Absolutely. Was my skin clearer? For sure. These small victories, combined with seeing my 'before and after' reflections (even just in my own mirror!), kept me going. Comparing how far I'd come from my "heavier" self was a powerful motivator for my 4-month weight loss transformation. It wasn't just about the scale; it was about feeling truly transformed. Making It a Lifestyle: Keys to Maintaining Your Results Keto isn't just a quick fix; it's a powerful tool for understanding how your body uses fuel. After reaching my 40 lbs goal, I transitioned into a more flexible low-carb approach, still prioritizing whole, unprocessed foods and healthy fats. The knowledge I gained about net carbs and listening to my body has been invaluable for long-term success. If you're looking to lose 40 pounds in 4 months, remember it's a commitment, but the benefits for your energy, clarity, and overall well-being are truly life-changing. Always check with your doctor to ensure this path is right for you, but for me, it was the key to unlocking a healthier, happier life.

Great job! I'm hopping back on, I lost 73lbs first time around about 10 years ago. Gained about 30 of it back so here I go again.
