Santa Rosalia Feast
Last night, I joined the 51st annual Feast of Santa Rosalia on18th Ave in Bensonhurst , Brooklyn. The streets were alive with carnival lights, the scent of Italian street food, and the sounds of live music filling the air. This 10-day festival, running from August 14 to 24, honors Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo, whose relics were paraded through the streets in 1624 to end a plague—a tradition that continues today.  
I indulged in a classic Italian hero sandwich. For dessert, I treated myself to a sweet cannoli from Villabate Alba, its crispy shell and creamy filling a perfect end to the meal. Which btw, there will be a cannoli eating contest on the 22nd!
