Supervised vs. Unsupervised Learning
How did AI learn? Know 2 main routes "Supervised vs. Unsupervised Learning"
Have you ever wondered how the AI we use today is "smart" and "learns" things?
Behind this intelligence, there are many different ways of learning, but today we're going to talk about the two main paths AI takes most often, which is easy to understand!
1. Supervised Learning (Instructor Learning)
This method is "intuitive learning."
We teach AI by giving "data" and "right answers" repeatedly until the AI recognizes the printer and predicts new things.
- Clearly seen:
- App Mobile Camera 📸: AI "know that" this is a "person face" because it is taught with a picture of a face with someone pointing "answer" that this is a face.
- Email 📩: AI automatically sorts out which edition, which "junk" (Spam), which "important" (Inbox) because we learn from the "answer" we used to press.
-Google Maps 📍: "Predict" that we will reach our destination in "15 minutes," learning from historical "traffic data" that has an "answer" to how much time it actually takes.
Supervised summary: Good at "prediction" by learning from information that has already been provided with "intelligence."
2. Unsupervised Learning (Instructor-free Learning)
This method is "Intuitive Learning."
We just throw a huge pile of raw data at the AI and have it try to "discover" the patch or group "hidden in the data itself.
- Clearly seen:
-Netflix / Spotify 🎧: "Group" music or "Same Line" movies. Let's introduce us by looking at which people have similar tastes (AI finds the "group" itself).
-Shopee / Lazada 🛒: "recommend products" that are "often bought in pairs" (for example, AI "discovers" that people who buy diapers often buy beer without us telling them)
- Bank 💳: "Detect" the use of "abnormal" cards because it "doesn't fit in" with our normal use habits (AI finds "abnormal" itself).
Unsupervised summary: Good at "discovery," paterns, or hidden structures in raw data.

นอกจากแนวคิดพื้นฐานของ Supervised Learning และ Unsupervised Learning แล้ว ยังมีขั้นตอนและประเด็นสำคัญที่ควรทำความเข้าใจเพื่อให้เห็นภาพรวมการเรียนรู้ของ AI อย่างลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้น Supervised Learning เน้นการใช้ข้อมูลที่มีการติดป้ายกำกับหรือ Label เช่น รูปภาพที่บอกว่าเป็นใบหน้าหรือไม่ หรืออีเมลว่าจดหมายไหนเป็นสแปมหรือไม่ การฝึกสอนนี้ช่วยให้โมเดลเรียนรู้การเชื่อมโยงระหว่างข้อมูลกับผลลัพธ์ที่ถูกต้อง ทำให้สามารถทำนายหรือแยกแยะข้อมูลใหม่ ๆ ได้อย่างแม่นยำ ประโยชน์ของวิธีนี้ชัดเจนในงานที่ต้องการความแม่นยำสูง เช่น ตรวจจับโรคจากภาพทางการแพทย์ หรือวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทางการเงินที่มีข้อมูลประวัติครบถ้วน ส่วน Unsupervised Learning จะต่างออกไป เพราะไม่มีข้อมูลที่ระบุคำตอบไว้ล่วงหน้า AI จะต้องค้นหาแพทเทิร์นและโครงสร้างที่ซ่อนอยู่ในข้อมูลดิบเอง วิธีนี้เหมาะกับกรณีที่ข้อมูลจำนวนมหาศาลแต่ไม่สามารถจัดไม่ได้ติดป้ายกำกับได้ง่าย ๆ เช่น การจัดกลุ่มลูกค้าตามพฤติกรรมการซื้อ หรือการแนะนำสินค้าและเพลงที่ตรงกับความชอบของกลุ่มผู้ใช้งาน เป็นต้น จุดเด่นของ Unsupervised Learning คือการค้นพบสิ่งใหม่ ๆ หรือโอกาสที่มนุษย์อาจมองไม่เห็น และยังใช้ช่วยตรวจจับความผิดปกติที่อาจบ่งบอกถึงปัญหาต่าง ๆ เช่น การใช้บัตรเครดิตที่ผิดปกติซึ่งบ่งชี้การฉ้อโกง นอกจากนี้ ยังมีเทคนิคการเรียนรู้อีกประเภทหนึ่งที่เรียกว่า Semi-supervised Learning ซึ่งเป็นการผสมผสานระหว่าง Supervised และ Unsupervised โดยใช้ข้อมูลที่มีป้ายกำกับบางส่วนและข้อมูลที่ไม่มีป้ายกำกับอีกส่วนหนึ่งร่วมกัน เพื่อช่วยลดต้นทุนการติดป้ายกำกับข้อมูลและเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพของโมเดล เมื่อมองภาพรวมแล้ว การเลือกใช้วิธีการเรียนรู้แบบใด ขึ้นอยู่กับลักษณะของข้อมูลและเป้าหมายของงาน เช่น หากต้องการทำนายผลที่แม่นยำ อาจเลือก Supervised Learning แต่ถ้าต้องการสำรวจข้อมูลเพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์หรือกลุ่มข้อมูลที่น่าสนใจ อาจเลือกใช้ Unsupervised Learning ซึ่งทั้งสองวิธีนี้เป็นเส้นทางหลักที่ AI ใช้ในการเรียนรู้และพัฒนาความฉลาดอย่างต่อเนื่อง ด้วยการเรียนรู้เหล่านี้ AI สามารถแก้ไขปัญหาที่ซับซ้อนและช่วยเติมเต็มชีวิตประจำวัน เช่น การแนะนำเนื้อหาบนแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์ การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลลูกค้าเพื่อการตลาด และการตรวจจับการทุจริตในธุรกรรมทางการเงิน จึงเห็นได้ว่าเข้าใจสองประเภทการเรียนรู้นี้จะช่วยให้ผู้สนใจเทคโนโลยีสามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้งานได้อย่างเหมาะสมและมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น
