Just a thought to the question

What’s the difference in a person who has attention deficit disorder and a person who is rebellious towards Christ ?

Attention deficit disorder is a “Mental Illness” that affects the cognitive functioning of the brain that give a person an uncontrollable urge to fight against instruction and action.

While rebellion is the intention and opposition of the heart toward GOD.

So the question would provoke us all to examine whether if we are mentally incapable or the heart is intentionally in opposition toward GOD 👀

From personal experience and observation, ADD is a neurological condition that impacts brain function, leading to difficulties in focusing, impulse control, and following instructions. This is not a matter of will but of brain chemistry and cognitive processing. In contrast, rebellion against God or spiritual authority usually stems from a deliberate choice or a matter of the heart. It involves an intentional resistance or opposition, often motivated by personal beliefs, feelings, or experiences. This distinction is important for those seeking to understand their own actions or the actions of others—whether a behavior is rooted in mental health challenges or spiritual defiance. In my journey, I have noticed that people with ADD often struggle to comply with rules or guidance—not because they defy them out of spite, but because their brains process information differently, causing them to react impulsively or become easily distracted. This differs greatly from someone consciously choosing to oppose God, where the intent is central to the behavior. Therefore, when we face moments of failure or resistance in life, it's helpful to ask ourselves: are we dealing with an involuntary mental barrier, or is our heart in opposition? This self-examination can lead to greater compassion, both toward ourselves and others, and encourage us to seek appropriate help, be it medical support for cognitive challenges or spiritual guidance for matters of the heart. Ultimately, distinguishing between these two can guide us in responding appropriately—whether through patience and understanding for mental health conditions or through reflection and transformation when confronting rebellion toward God.
