So many of you have been curious about my art process and what it's like to create custom commissions, so I wanted to dive a little deeper into the magic behind the recent pieces I shared! It's truly a collaborative journey, and I adore bringing your unique visions to life. When someone approaches me for a commission, it's like embarking on a new adventure. We start with a chat about their ideas – maybe they have a beloved pet, like a fluffy grey and white cat with striking yellow eyes, that they want immortalized in a vibrant painting. Or perhaps it's a special moment they want to capture, like a couple kissing, reflecting their unique bond. I love hearing all the details, from favorite colors to specific emotions they want to convey. Sometimes clients even mention themes that remind them of their favorite fantasy worlds, which really gets my creative gears turning! For instance, that fantasy-inspired woman with long dark hair, pointed ears, and a crown, adorned with glittery makeup – that was a blast to create! The client wanted something ethereal, almost like a character from an epic saga. I focused on those magical details, setting her against a swirling blue and purple abstract background with stars to give it that otherworldly feel. It’s these kinds of projects that really let me explore intricate character design, similar to what you might see in concept art for big fantasy productions. I often think about how these characters would fit into a larger narrative, just like thinking about the visual storytelling in a movie like *Avatar*. Then there’s the process itself. Once we’ve locked down the concept, I usually start with some sketches to make sure we're on the same page. This is where the abstract floral patterns might come into play for a pet portrait background, or where I map out the dynamic composition for a romantic scene. After approval, I move onto the painting stage, adding layers of color and detail. For the couple's painting, ensuring their expressions and the subtle play of light on their black leather jacket and hoodie felt just right was key. The blue and purple abstract design with yellow stars and swirls in the background adds so much atmosphere without distracting from the main subject. Seeing the artwork displayed on an easel as it comes to life is one of my favorite parts! I genuinely believe that commissioned art is more than just a picture; it’s a piece of someone's heart, a memory, or a dream made tangible. It’s about creating something truly unique that resonates deeply with the owner. If you've ever considered commissioning a piece, whether it's a detailed character from your imagination, a cherished animal, or a portrait of loved ones, I'd love to chat! It’s an incredible way to own a bespoke piece of art that tells your story. What kind of art would you love to commission? I'm always open to new ideas and challenges!
