Solomon makes these many sacrifices to God, and God was so pleased with them God asks him in a dream “what do you want, I will give it to you!” And Solomon asked for wisdom to help His people, and God was amazed! He said you could’ve asked for anything but you asked for wisdom, so I will give you wealth and fame along with wisdom!!!
God is asking you what do you want?
Reflecting on Solomon’s story, I’ve often found it inspiring how his request for wisdom—to help his people—was met with God’s overwhelming approval and additional blessings. This story reminds me that our priorities greatly influence our life outcomes. Recently, I read Proverbs 3:1-4, which encourages storing God’s commands in our hearts and embracing loyalty and kindness. I realized that these virtues, much like Solomon’s wisdom, open doors not only spiritually but socially, helping us live satisfying and meaningful lives. In daily life, choosing wisdom over instant gratification or material gain feels challenging but rewarding. It’s like a personal compass guiding decisions, relationships, and even career paths. For example, when faced with tough choices, recalling Solomon’s example encourages me to seek deeper understanding and patience, trusting that such wisdom attracts favor and builds a strong reputation. God’s question, “What do you want?” challenges us to look inward beyond surface desires. It’s an invitation to prioritize what truly matters. From personal experience, focusing on wisdom and kindness has enriched my interactions and provided unexpected blessings in opportunities and peace of mind. So, if you ask yourself this question today, consider asking for wisdom and the strength to apply it—like Solomon did—and watch how life unfolds in surprising ways.
