Disneyland Just Took Away a HUGE Perk

Disneyland quietly removed a HUGE perk — and most guests haven’t realized it yet.

Early Entry for Disneyland Resort in California is officially gone.

Hotel guests no longer get the 30-minute head start, and rope drop is now an even playing field for everyone.

Great news for regular guests… but a big loss if you paid extra to stay on-property.

⚠️ This affects Disneyland Park & Disney California Adventure in Anaheim ONLY

🚫 Disney World in Florida is NOT affected

Was this the right move? 👀👇

... Read moreOh my goodness, when I first heard the news that Disneyland has officially ended early entry for hotel guests in California, my heart sank a little! For years, that 30-minute head start was my secret weapon, especially when visiting Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. It truly felt like a huge perk that justified paying a bit extra to stay on-property. Losing that advantage means a significant shift in how I'll plan my future trips, and I wanted to share my thoughts and new strategies with you all. Before this change, I always cherished those peaceful moments in the park before the crowds descended. Imagine walking into Fantasyland and riding Peter Pan's Flight with a minimal wait, or heading straight to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! in Disney California Adventure and getting a ride or two in before the official opening time. That feeling of having the park (almost) to yourself was simply magical. Now that everyone enters at the same time, we're all on an even playing field, which, while fair to regular day guests, definitely impacts those of us who valued the hotel benefits. So, what does this mean for our rope drop strategies? It means we have to be even more prepared! My new game plan will involve arriving at the park gates at least an hour before opening, even on what used to be considered 'off-peak' days. Being at the very front of the rope drop crowd is now crucial. I'll also be leaning much more heavily on Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane selections. That 30-minute head start often allowed me to skip buying ILL for a popular ride, but now, it feels almost essential if you want to maximize your ride count without spending hours in line. Planning out my first few rides and Genie+ reservations for the morning will be more critical than ever. Another thing to consider is the value proposition of staying at a Disneyland hotel. With the early entry perk gone, I've had to re-evaluate if the premium price is still worth it for *me*. While the convenience of walking to the parks is undeniable, and the immersive atmosphere is fantastic, the tangible advantage for ride access has definitely diminished. There are still other perks, of course – easy access to Downtown Disney, dedicated entrances, and the incredible service – but for those strictly looking for a head start on attractions, that specific benefit is no longer there. It definitely makes you weigh your options more carefully, especially if you're on a budget. It’s also super important to remember (as the OCR text clearly highlighted!) that this change specifically affects the Disneyland Resort in California, not Disney World in Florida. Early Entry is still available at Disney World, so if you're planning a trip there, you can still enjoy that special perk. But for us West Coast Disney fans, it's time to adapt. While it's a bummer to lose such a fantastic benefit, I'm confident that with careful planning and a little extra pixie dust, we can still have incredible, magical trips to Disneyland. It just means we'll have to work a little harder for that early morning advantage!
