TAIWAN ITINERARY 🇹🇼 taichung x taipei x hualien P1

I went taiwan last week with my boyfriend and here’s everything we did, eat and shop!! Also, the weather was perfect, windy and cooling. 🌦️

Day ☝️:

SG > Taoyuan Airport

Taoyuan airport > Tai Chung via HSR 🚆

Taichung > Check in hotel at Midori Green $140/pax

Miyahara Ice cream - guess everyone already heard of this 🍨

Painted animated lane - one street of animation wall art 🖼️

Yi Zhong street - street with adidas, nike, new balance, street wear, book shops, poya, watson)

Dinner - 那个锅 (was craving for hotpot and walk past this shop, serving individual pot nice! but the options were quite limited) 🥘

Yi Zhong Night market - was quite full from dinner so didn’t get anything but there were recommended food such as spring onion pancake, angels chicken, smelly toufu and also street performance 🎭

Day ✌️

- Started our day at 0730am which the tour driver picked us up from our hotel 🏨

- Arrived at Sun Moon Lake. I booked it via klook at $29.69/person 🛥️

- Took the boat to 3 different destinations (1st - Ah Ma Tea egg, 2nd - lunch, 3rd - back to port ) ⚓️

- Next activity was optional cycling or walking around the sun moon lake bike trail and we opted for motorised cycling, it was super fun and less tiring way to enjoy the view 🚲

- Then, we visited wen wu temple and stayed for 30 mins before heading to our last location 🏛️

- Gaomei Wetlands, despite the jam, we managed to catch the sunset and the sun sets so early in taiwan! We took a few photos and enjoyed the moment before heading back to taichung city. 🌅

- Our guide recommended Da Qing Night Market, a super local night market, selling cheap delicacies and games. Different from your usual feng chia or yi zhong. 🥓🍤

- We had some time so we headed to feng chia for some clothes shopping and more food! We ate oysters mushrooms, oysters omelette and grilled scallops all 8/10 noms 😋

Day 👌🏻:

Breakfast - Soori - breakfast spot only at taichung selling toast, egg wraps, radish cake and soymilk 🍳

11am : Took the HSR from taichung to taipei 🚆

1pm : Check in hotel 🏨

Lunch - Ichiran Tapei (arrived at 2pm and had to wait for about 70mins so we walked around the mall and went back to queue) 🍜

Zhong Shan street - stretch of boutique shops, vintage and local brand 🛍️

Xi Men Ding street - had Ah Zhong mianxian, crispy donut, shi yuan popcorn chicken, papaya milk 🥛

Bonus : We saw @diorlying posted on IG that she is hosting a random live show in one of taipei livehouse and our hotel was nearby so we decided to headover and had never regret this decision. To be able to hear all the songs live was mesmerising, hope to attend her concert one day! 🎶

Thank you for reading till the end and stay tune for part 2, where I will be sharing more taipei itinerary and my day trip to hualian! 🥰

... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to Taiwan, considering how to divide your time between Taichung, Taipei, and Hualien is key. While Taichung offers charming cafes, night markets, and stunning natural spots like Gaomei Wetlands, Taipei boasts a lively urban vibe with shopping streets such as Zhong Shan and Xi Men Ding and famous food spots like Ichiran Ramen and Ah Zhong Mianxian. Hualien, known for its breathtaking Taroko Gorge and scenic landscapes, makes an excellent day trip or overnight stay if you love nature. Booking tours through platforms like Klook can be very convenient and often cost-effective for popular destinations like Sun Moon Lake and Hualien. For food lovers, don't miss specialties like Taichung lemon cake, oyster omelettes at Feng Chia Night Market, and local snacks like spring onion pancake and stinky tofu. Exploring night markets not only fills your belly but also immerses you in local culture. Transportation in Taiwan is efficient; the High-Speed Rail (HSR) connects Taichung and Taipei smoothly, cutting down travel time and giving you more flexibility. For a different pace, try biking around Sun Moon Lake—the motorized biking option can be a fun and less tiring way to enjoy the breathtaking views. Lastly, keep an eye out for impromptu events and concerts, like the live show my friend spotted nearby, which add a unique and personal touch to your journey. Taiwan's mix of urban charm, natural wonders, and welcoming people creates unforgettable travel memories.
