Traveling to Seoul offers an incredible balance of vibrant city life and rich cultural experiences. Over my recent 5-day trip, I found that starting the day early gives you ample time to beat crowds at popular attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village. Taking the AREX train from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station was not only convenient but also affordable and fast, connecting easily to other subway lines for seamless sightseeing. Food-wise, Seoul’s street food markets like Myeongdong and Mangwon Market are treasure troves of local flavors. Don’t miss the hotteok (sweet-filled pancakes) and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) sold by street vendors. For a sit-down meal, Tosokchon’s samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) is a comforting classic that fueled me for afternoon adventures. Shopping in Apgujeong and Myeongdong brought me close to Korean fashion brands such as Musinsa and Innovators like Polène for bags, adding a stylish local flavor. For a quick coffee break, Blue Bottle and Osulloc Tea House stand out as serene spots blending international and Korean tastes. One of the highlights was the day trip to Nami Island where scenic bike rides along the railway tracks offered a peaceful escape from the city buzz. The Alpaca World nearby added a fun animal encounter, making it perfect for families or anyone wishing for a relaxed day out. In the evenings, I enjoyed sampling Korean BBQ at less touristy spots — walking into a random restaurant in Hongdae led me to some of the best marinated meats I’ve ever tasted, emphasizing that sometimes spontaneity leads to the best culinary experiences. For desserts, Sulbing’s bingsu, a shaved ice treat topped with fresh fruits and sweet toppings, was the ultimate way to cool off after a day of walking. The combination of experiences from history, food, shopping to natural beauty made this Seoul itinerary a well-rounded adventure that I'd highly recommend to fellow travelers.
