Dr.Shay’s Springbreak Braids Part 2
#grwm #braids #naturalistas #barbieaesthetic #springbreak Dr. Shay made it!!! She’s getting ready for her Dr’s girl trip with her fellow alumni from John Hopkins!!! The ladies are going to Miami first then the Bahamas!!! So let’s get into it!! Dr. Shay is getting micro braids, yeah (she’s my only client today, cause like why would I over work myself). First I had to get her out of that medical fit and into a Naturalista robe! Then off to the shampoo bowl for some r&r and the best shampoo of her life. Quick prep for the blow out!!! The braid bust down was 5 1/2 hours.. We laughed and joked a bit!!! Dr. Shay wanted her baby hairs laid and eyebrows slayed, too!!!
Embarking on a natural hair journey like Dr. Shay’s springbreak braids is not just about the look but also the experience and care that comes with it. When I recently decided to get micro braids myself, I realized how important it is to set aside ample time — much like Dr. Shay’s 5 1/2 hours of braid bust down — to ensure the style turns out perfect without rushing. Choosing the right preparation is key. Just as Dr. Shay was transitioned from her medical attire into a comfortable naturalista robe, creating a relaxing environment can significantly elevate the experience. From my personal experience, using a scalp-soothing, high-quality shampoo before braiding helps not only cleanse but also preserve the scalp’s health, reducing itchiness during the long installation process. It’s like giving your hair some ‘R&R’ before the style. Baby hairs and eyebrows are small details that make a huge difference. Styling baby hairs with edge control gels and slaying eyebrows can complement the overall aesthetic beautifully. I like to use a soft-bristle toothbrush for sleek baby hairs and tinted brow gel for defined eyebrows — simple tools for a polished finish. Another tip is to keep the hair moisturized and protect the braids with a satin scarf or bonnet at night to maintain the style longer. Plus, wearing the naturalista look confidently, as Dr. Shay does, truly elevates the vibe and makes the whole styling worth every minute. For anyone planning a similar trip or event, I recommend booking your braiding session in advance and preparing for a long yet enjoyable pampering day. Incorporating humor and relaxation during styling can make the time fly, just like the laughter shared between Dr. Shay and her stylist. Ultimately, it’s a blend of patience, care, and fun that makes springbreak braids an unforgettable experience!
