Well, my mini greenhouse is delivering some drama and some success! 😂 Planted seeds on Tuesday and now it's Saturday, and I've got legit seedlings! Big shoutout to the watermelon, spinach, basil, and tomato for germinating.
RIP to the others — apparently, ants decided they were a tasty snack. 🤦♀️ Time for a do-over with bell peppers, cayenne peppers, cilantro, and lettuce!
Also, a moment of silence for my future self who will be drowning in marigolds. I just threw a handful of seeds in a pot, and now it looks like they're staging a takeover! Send help (or more pots)! #GreenhouseAdventures #SeedlingLife #AntsBeGone #MarigoldMania
Starting a mini greenhouse can bring both delights and challenges. The excitement of planting seeds quickly turns into anticipation as you wait for them to germinate. Common choices like watermelon, spinach, basil, and tomatoes are fantastic for beginners, not only due to their versatility but also their relatively fast growth rates. However, not all seeds may thrive, often due to environmental factors or pests like ants, which can munch on seeds and disrupt your gardening plans. If you're facing such challenges, consider planting ant-repelling herbs like mint or implementing simple DIY traps to safeguard your seedlings. In instances of seed failure, rethink your strategy! Resowing bell peppers, cayenne peppers, cilantro, and lettuce might yield better results. As for the rapid growth of marigolds, they're not just beautiful additions to your garden but are also beneficial in repelling pests. Creating a mini greenhouse is not only about the plants; it's a delightful experience of nurturing and learning which plants thrive together. Embrace the learning process, and don't hesitate to share your gardening stories with fellow enthusiasts. Happy gardening!
