Oh, where do I even begin with our precious Amy? Every day with her is an absolute joy! When I first shared about her, I realized how much more there is to tell about this wonderful 11-year-old "puppy." You see, Amy might be a senior by dog standards, but her spirit is as youthful as ever. She’s truly an old soul with a playful heart, and watching her gracefully navigate her golden years is a constant source of inspiration. One of the things that makes Amy so special is her unwavering love for snuggles. It’s not just a hobby; it’s practically her profession! She has this way of burrowing into your side, letting out a contented sigh, and just melting all your worries away. Whether it’s on the couch during movie night, curled up at the foot of the bed, or even just leaning against your leg while you’re cooking, Amy is always ready for a cuddle session. We often joke that she's a professional warmth provider, and honestly, she's the best at it! And don't even get me started on her playtime with her siblings! We have a couple of other dogs, and it’s heartwarming to see how they all interact. Amy, despite her age, still loves a good game of chase in the yard or a gentle tug-of-war. She's great at setting boundaries with the younger ones, teaching them the ropes, but also letting loose and enjoying herself. It really shows that age is just a number when it comes to having fun. Keeping her engaged with her furry friends is so important for her mental and physical well-being. When it comes to food, Amy truly lives up to "Favorite food: All"! Seriously, this girl has never met a meal or a treat she didn't adore. We try to keep her diet balanced, especially now that she's older, but a little bit of cheese or a special dog biscuit will make her eyes light up like it's Christmas morning. It’s a gentle reminder of how simple pleasures can bring so much happiness. We've found that giving her smaller, more frequent meals helps keep her energy levels steady throughout the day. Her tricks are another highlight. "Shake both paws" is her signature move, and she performs it with such enthusiasm, especially if there’s a treat involved. She'll sit patiently, then lift one paw, then the other, looking up at you with those adorable "please give me the treat" eyes. And yes, "looking adorable af" is absolutely a trick she's mastered! It’s her secret weapon for getting extra belly rubs or an extended walk. We’ve always used positive reinforcement, and it’s amazing how much even an older dog can learn or perfect existing tricks. Just a few minutes of training each day helps keep her mind sharp. For anyone with a senior dog, or thinking of adopting one, I can't recommend it enough. They bring so much wisdom, calm, and unconditional love into your life. Keeping them happy and healthy involves a bit of extra attention – like regular vet check-ups, gentle exercise tailored to their mobility, and a cozy, comfortable spot to rest. But the rewards? Absolutely priceless. Amy is a cherished member of our family, and every moment with her is a gift.
