My loc Journey

My loc journey was different! Flew by super fast! I stopped getting my hair done professionally about 3 years ago because I haven’t found a loctition yet that I align with. I dye, retwist and style my hair myself although I’m not big on styling.

I remember when I first got my locs, some lady at my job said “idk how ppl get locs, that’s too permanent for me”( A lady who only wore 2 cornrows to work)

For those that want to consider it may be having doubts. Keep going! Your locs will teach you so much about yourself inside and out! The journey ain’t always sweet but that’s life. It’ll be rewarding in the end!

Let me know if yall want pics of the few styles I wore? lol and my everyday bun lol

One key aspect to consider is the method of establishing locs, which varies from interlocking to freeform styles. Many people often face initial apprehensions about the permanence of locs, but with time, self-discovery becomes a major part of the process. It's common to go through phases with the color and style of locs, helping you find the best look suited for your personality. When committed to loc maintenance, learning to retwist and style your hair on your own can build confidence as you navigate through various phases. Engaging with resources online can also aid in finding community support and inspiration. Social media platforms are filled with vibrant examples of loc styles; searching hashtags like #locjourney or #locinspo can connect you with others, showcasing their own unique journeys. Moreover, remember that hairstyles are merely an extension of oneself—embracing change can lead to discovering new facets of your personality. Whether thriving through love, breakups, or personal milestones, your locs reflect your journey, holding stories within each twist. Ultimately, every loc journey is personal and profound. As you experience the highs and lows of maintaining locs, each moment will shape your identity and can lead to a deeper understanding of what it means to embrace your natural beauty.

1.5 years for me. I started my locks as a two string twist and after my first retwist I decided to interlock.

Your hair is beautiful I’m thinking about joining the loc gang I’ve been natural for 8years now and I’ve actually worn rope twists forever which I love but i wanna switch it up also I’m salt & pepper so I know I’d probably be real cute my hair is thick and course but I’m scared of the thinning hair and scalp I hate to see peoples scalp especially us ladies so I’m really undecided 🤷🏾‍♀️ 😊
