It’s been a minute since I shared a tytan update ❤️
Tomorrow we have his 6 week follow up on his new dosage.
On his new dosage which is 5mg, he has calmed down ALOT. He hasn’t had a zoomies OR dancing night since the change, the first 2 weeks was like he regressed but was told to give it a couple more weeks.
He is very monotone (best way to describe it)
Not angry but not overly happy just chill…super weird for us cause this is brand new behavior.
But he is way more aware and takes what you tell him in slowly and can respond appropriately, which is good.
Since my husband is with him daily he doesn’t think his dosage needs to go any higher so we shall see what she says…
I keep a daily journal of his days and will update her on our concerns.

Adjusting medication dosage for children with autism can often lead to a variety of behavioral changes, both expected and surprising. As noted in this update, Tytan’s new 5mg dosage has calmed his previously hyperactive behaviors, such as his frequent pacing and nighttime ‘zoomies.’ This shift to a calmer, more monotone demeanor indicates that the medication is impacting his neurological response, reducing overstimulation but also changing how he expresses emotions. It's important to recognize that these behavioral adaptations are a part of the treatment journey. In many cases, children on autism spectrum disorder medications may initially seem to regress or show different patterns of behavior before stabilizing. Patience and ongoing observation are key. Parents and caregivers should maintain detailed daily journals, as mentioned here, to track subtle changes and note both positive progress and any concerns. This documentation plays a vital role in discussions with healthcare providers to tailor dosage for optimal balance between calming effects and preservation of responsiveness. Moreover, the observed increase in Tytan's awareness and ability to respond appropriately to instructions suggests improved cognitive engagement despite the monotone mood. This can be a positive indication that his medication is helping regulate impulses and attention, which can benefit his communication and daily functioning. Family involvement is crucial, as seen with the husband’s close daily observation and feedback on dosage needs. Collaborating with medical professionals ensures that the dosage is adjusted thoughtfully and that side effects like emotional flatness are monitored. Overall, managing autism symptoms with medication demands a holistic approach, incorporating behavioral observation, emotional support, and medical guidance. The user’s experience with Tytan highlights the balance between calmness and emotional expressiveness, reminding us that every child’s response to medication can be unique and requires personalized care and attention.
