If you're planning a trip, especially around the holidays, I hope this helps you craft your own perfect New York weekend itinerary. This city truly comes alive, and there’s so much to see and do, even in just a couple of days. Friday Evening: Welcome to the Big Apple! After arriving and checking into my hotel, I kicked off my weekend in New York City by heading straight to Times Square. There’s nothing quite like seeing those dazzling billboards and the sheer energy of the crowd for the first time! It’s a sensory overload in the best way possible. I grabbed a casual dinner nearby, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Even a quick stroll through the area at night is an experience in itself, with all the bright lights making it feel like daytime. It’s a perfect way to ease into your NYC adventure and get a taste of the city's iconic hustle and bustle. Saturday: Iconic Landmarks & Holiday Cheer My Saturday morning started bright and early! First stop: Rockefeller Center. This area is magical, especially during the festive season. Seeing the towering Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in person was absolutely breathtaking – it's even more impressive than in pictures! I spent some time just taking it all in, snapping photos, and enjoying the festive atmosphere. Right across, I also popped into St. Patrick's Cathedral, which is stunning and offers a peaceful contrast to the bustling streets. Afterward, I took a leisurely walk down Fifth Avenue, admiring the beautiful window displays – they’re works of art, especially around Christmas! I then wandered into Central Park, which felt like a peaceful oasis. Even in winter, it’s beautiful for a stroll. For lunch, I grabbed a classic NYC slice of pizza because, when in Rome, right? My evening highlight was catching a Broadway show! There’s nothing quite like the magic of live theater in New York City. If you can, book your tickets in advance. After the show, I made my way back through Times Square, which felt even more alive at night with all the theater-goers and street performers. It felt like the heart of the city was truly beating during my weekend in NYC itinerary. Sunday: Culture, Views, & Farewell On Sunday, I started with a delicious brunch in Greenwich Village – such a charming neighborhood with a completely different vibe from Midtown. I loved exploring the quaint streets and independent shops. Afterwards, I decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. The views of the Manhattan skyline from the bridge are absolutely incredible, and it’s a fantastic way to see the city from a different perspective. It’s a bit of a walk, but totally worth it for the photos and the experience! Alternatively, if you're into museums, a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) or the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) could easily fill your morning. I made sure to save some time for souvenir shopping before heading to the airport, picking up a few little things to remember my incredible New York City weekend itinerary by.
