My Labor Goals

I WANT TO DELIVER STANDING UP

- [ ] we will be breastfeeding

- [ ] no forceps, vacuum or clamps unless absolutely necessary

- [ ] no pitcoin, i want to naturally progress

- [ ] we want delayed cord clamping

- [ ] golden hour

- [ ] baby is not to leave the room for tests

- [ ] laughing gas (after it’s getting exhausting, most of labor without it) and changing positions when i finally get it

- [ ] dad will cut the umbilical cord

- [ ] no men in room besides dad

- [ ] no cervixal checks unless absolutely necessary

These are what I wish will happen, I know it doesn’t always go as planned. My main thing is being able to deliver standing up and you cannot that if you get an epidural so I’m literally praying I can make it through.

Many parents increasingly opt for natural birthing techniques, emphasizing minimal medical intervention. Understanding the importance of the golden hour, where mothers can bond with their newborn immediately after birth, makes for a significant emotional experience. Moreover, delayed cord clamping has been shown to enhance the baby's health by improving their blood volume and iron levels. For those considering standing delivery, it's essential to discuss flexibility with healthcare providers to ensure safety and comfort during labor. Involving partners in the birthing process can also foster a strong family bond and create a supportive environment. Remember, while having a birth plan is vital, being open to changes and trusting your body during labor is equally important. Always have discussions with your healthcare provider about your desires and options before labor begins to set the stage for the experience you envision. As part of the planning process, consider attending birthing classes, which can offer valuable information and reassure anxious parents. Collaborating with supportive friends and family, and possibly hiring a doula, can also be beneficial in navigating the labor journey. Seeking information from reputable pregnancy and childbirth resources can further bolster your confidence and readiness for labor. Trust that every labor experience is unique, and being informed can help you adapt to whatever challenges may arise.
