Not condemnation, but redemption.

John 3:1-21 NKJV

The New Birth

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?

Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.

If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” #Godisgood #scriptures #faithoverfear #walkbyfaith

... Read moreHey everyone! I was deeply moved reflecting on John 3:16-17 NKJV today, especially seeing that beautiful image with the heart-shaped flowers, perfectly symbolizing God's incredible, unconditional love for us. It’s a verse that truly defines the heart of our faith: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." This isn't just a verse; it's a profound declaration of hope and redemption, a promise that we are not destined for condemnation but offered a path to eternal life. The original passage from John 3:1-21, where Jesus speaks with Nicodemus about 'The New Birth,' is equally powerful. It’s easy to wonder, like Nicodemus, 'How can a man be born when he is old?' But Jesus clarifies that it’s about being 'born of water and the Spirit.' For me, this speaks to a spiritual transformation, a fresh start given by God's Spirit, making us new from the inside out. It's not just a physical act but a spiritual awakening that allows us to truly 'see the kingdom of God' and live a life aligned with His will. This rebirth is foundational to experiencing His love and escaping the cycle of condemnation. The truth that 'God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved' (John 3:17) is such a comfort. It reminds us that God's primary desire is our salvation, not our judgment. The choice, however, is ours. Do we 'love darkness rather than light' because our deeds are evil, or do we 'do the truth' and come to the light? Embracing the light means allowing God's truth to illuminate our lives, revealing His grace and guiding us to live authentically in His love. Speaking of God’s profound wisdom and plan, I was also thinking about Daniel 2:20-23. While seemingly from a different context, these verses beautifully complement the message of John 3. Daniel declares, 'Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.' This reminds me that the grand plan of salvation, the sending of Jesus, and the offer of new birth are all part of God’s immense wisdom and power. He isn't just a God of love, but also a God who orchestrates history and reveals profound truths through His divine insight. His wisdom is what designed this incredible path of redemption for us, and His might is what carries it out. So, when we reflect on John 3:16-17 and the broader narrative of salvation, let’s remember that it’s all rooted in God’s perfect wisdom and unfailing love, as echoed in Daniel’s praise. It's a journey of trusting in His divine plan, embracing the spiritual rebirth He offers, and choosing to walk in His light every day. It's a beautiful testament to a God who knows all things, can do all things, and loves us unconditionally. Let these scriptures encourage you to lean into His wisdom and accept His gift of eternal life.
