No feedback, at work just silence

every time i ask for feedback at work, they just nod and say i’m doing fine. no tips. no direction. just silence. so i keep doing what i think is right.

then out of nowhere, something goes wrong and that’s when they finally speak up. now they have a whole list of things i should’ve done differently. it’s like they were waiting for me to mess up just so they could talk.

i’m not trying to be perfect. i just want to do better. but how can i grow if no one tells me what i’m doing wrong until it’s too late?

it’s so frustrating. i don’t need fake praise. i need real feedback. is this just how some workplaces are?

... Read moreIn many workplaces, the culture of feedback can often be misleading, leaving employees confused and frustrated. The absence of proactive feedback not only stifles growth but also cultivates an environment where mistakes become the sole basis for discussion. It's crucial for organizations to create a feedback-rich culture where employees receive ongoing, constructive input. Research shows that a lack of feedback can significantly affect employee morale and performance. Employees thrive in environments where they feel supported and guided. Thus, fostering an open dialogue and providing regular feedback can enhance workplace relationships, increase job satisfaction, and boost productivity. To combat the cycle of silence, consider implementing regular check-ins or feedback sessions, utilize anonymous surveys to gather insights, and encourage team members to share both praise and constructive feedback. By establishing these practices, workplaces can transform into spaces where individuals feel valued, heard, and empowered to grow. Ultimately, no one wants to be caught off guard by criticism when things go wrong. By advocating for transparent communication and constructive dialogue, we can cultivate a more supportive and collaborative workplace landscape.

Confidence is key! If you know you’re doing well then be proud of that. Also, keep documentation on the feedback requests… do it in an email or if you ask in person follow up with an email. So you have paper trail of them saying good job or no feedback and when they complain you bring it up
