Matthew 10:24-33

Gospel for today according to Saint Matthew

Matthew 10:24-33

Jesus said to his Apostles:

“No disciple is above his teacher,

no slave above his master.

It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher,

for the slave that he become like his master.

If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,

how much more those of his household!

“Therefore do not be afraid of them.

Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,

nor secret that will not be known.

What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;

what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;

rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy

both soul and body in Gehenna.

Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?

Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.

Even all the hairs of your head are counted.

So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Everyone who acknowledges me before others

I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.

But whoever denies me before others,

I will deny before my heavenly Father.”

... Read moreIn today's Gospel reading, Matthew 10:24-33, we are reminded of the importance of standing firm in our faith despite the challenges we face. Jesus encourages us not to fear those who may threaten us in the world. Instead, He calls us to acknowledge our relationship with Him openly and courageously. The passage emphasizes that nothing remains hidden from God; every secret is revealed in His time. We are reminded that our value is recognized by God, as He sees each sparrow and knows every hair on our heads. Living in faith means expressing that value in our daily lives, speaking truthfully and boldly among others. As we reflect on these verses, we are called to foster a deeper relationship with Christ, knowing that our loyalty will be rewarded with acknowledgment before God. Let this message inspire you to live courageously and share the love and truth of the Gospel with others. Engage with your community and support one another in faith, as we navigate a world that often seems to challenge our beliefs. Look beyond the trials; hold on to the divine assurance that we are never alone. The beauty of faith lies in its power to unite us and deliver solace amidst uncertainty.
