Over the past year and a half, after experiencing the heartbreaking loss of my mom, I found myself increasingly isolating from my friends. It was a defense mechanism, an attempt to heal alone, but it ultimately made me feel more distant and alone. Recently, with encouragement from my therapist, I decided to start reconnecting with close friends, scheduling monthly dinners and small gatherings. One friend, who gifted me beautiful roses, has been a reminder that true friendship means consistency, unconditional support, and love even when life gets tough. I realized that it’s okay to be vulnerable with people I trust—letting them see my sadness or struggles doesn’t make me a burden. In fact, sharing my emotions has helped deepen my relationships and lifted my spirits. I’ve embraced being the quirky, funny friend who isn’t afraid to show her feelings, whether that means being goofy or openly sad at times. This journey has taught me that friendships are essential anchors during life’s challenges. The flowers I arranged in a vase are more than decoration—they symbolize these meaningful connections and my commitment to staying open and authentic. If you’re feeling like a burden or struggling to reach out, know that letting a few trusted friends in can make a profound difference in your healing. Consistency in friendship, real conversations, and shared moments—no matter how small—have truly brightened my path. For anyone navigating difficult times, remember: growth involves change, and having people who accept every version of you is a beautiful gift worth cherishing.
