... Read moreI completely relate to the frustration of being judged for liking new music that others already appreciate. It can feel really unfair when people expect you to have an extensive background on a band just because you've started listening to them. In my experience, music is much more about personal connection and enjoyment rather than needing to be a superfan or an expert. Sometimes, a song or artist just clicks with you in that moment—maybe it’s the emotion in the vocals, the energy of the beat, or simply the vibe of the music. For example, I recently discovered Sleep Token, a band that has a unique blend of atmospheric sound and emotional storytelling. Even if I didn’t know all their history or every album, their song "Emergence" struck a chord with me, showing how music can resonate deeply without needing full context. It’s also important to remember that everyone’s musical journey is unique. Some people dive deep into researching bands, while others just enjoy the melodies spontaneously. Both approaches are completely valid. Judging others for how they experience music can take away from the joy it brings. So next time you find yourself enjoying a new artist or genre, don’t worry about what others say. Music is meant to be a personal and freeing experience. Embrace your tastes and give yourself permission to like what you love, no matter what anyone else thinks.
