ADHD- A Diva Has DIYs

1 day agoEdited to

... Read moreLiving with ADHD often means dealing with a whirlwind of thoughts and a torrent of energy that can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, as someone who embraces DIY projects with ADHD, I’ve learned that this unique brain wiring can be a powerful asset rather than a limitation. The key lies in harnessing the natural curiosity and bursts of creativity to fuel diverse projects that keep me engaged and productive. For example, I schedule my day around varied tasks like building a garden cage or cooking homemade dog food, which keeps my interest piqued and my mind focused. This blend of activities prevents boredom and maintains momentum, helping me defeat the all-too-common tendency toward unfinished projects. I’ve found creating an organized but flexible plan, such as a daily “TODAY’S PLAN” list or using project reels on social platforms, dramatically boosts my productivity. Caffeine is my trusty sidekick to power through busy moments, but the real magic is in accepting the chaos and learning to ride the waves of hyperfocus. The feeling of accomplishment when completing a bathroom remodel or crafting something new is incredibly rewarding and proves that ADHD can be a catalyst for creativity rather than a roadblock. If you have ADHD or are simply someone fascinated by DIY crafts, remember that progress doesn’t have to be linear. Embrace your unique brain, explore multiple interests simultaneously, and don’t be afraid to switch gears when inspiration strikes. With patience and a sense of humor, your projects can turn out as fabulously focused and diverse as your ideas. Follow along on my Instagram @debbie.doesdiy for more tips, tricks, and daily adventures in living the DIY life with ADHD.
