Sometimes I pretend I’m super sleepy to snuggle
Then I pretend I’m sleep and she falls asleep as she’s putting me to sleep. Which usually I’m so comfy I may fall asleep too. Either way a win is a win in my book.
Many parents find creative ways to connect and bond with their children, and pretending to be sleepy is a clever and heartwarming strategy. By acting tired, you invite your child to engage in snuggle time, which fosters emotional closeness and a sense of security. This approach gently encourages kids to slow down and settle, often making bedtime or quiet moments more peaceful. When children see their parent relaxing and receptive, they mirror those feelings and feel more comforted. It transforms the routine of putting a child to sleep into a nurturing experience for both. Snuggling is not only about physical closeness; it also stimulates the release of oxytocin, the 'love hormone,' which strengthens bonds and reduces stress for parent and child alike. By pretending to be sleepy, you create a soothing atmosphere where your child feels safe and cherished. Incorporating this technique occasionally can improve night routines, reduce bedtime resistance, and deepen your relationship. It also offers parents a chance to rest and recharge while enjoying quality moments with their kids. Overall, playful interactions like this highlight the importance of love and presence in successful parenting.
