Why I Love Working in Forensic Psychology

(And why it’s one of the most meaningful career choices I’ve made)

• Every day is different. No two cases, stories, or clients are ever the same and it keeps the work challenging and eye-opening.

• You truly see the intersection between mental health and the legal system and how important it is to advocate for those who might otherwise be overlooked.

• It’s a career that constantly pushes you to grow: emotionally, intellectually, and professionally.

• Being part of someone’s journey, whether that’s through court-mandated treatment, evaluations, or helping someone get the support they need, reminds me why this work matters.

• It’s not always easy, but it’s real, important work that leaves a lasting impact.

• Plus, working alongside attorneys, judges, and mental health teams has given me such a unique perspective on both systems.

Forensic psychology isn’t just about courtrooms and evaluations it’s about real people, real change, and real growth.

Where do you find these types of jobs? Furthermore, do you need a clinical license, or is a degree in psychology or criminal justice sufficient?
