The Weirdest Museum in Singapore

Singapore’s Merlion fossils are now on display. 🤯

This free exhibition showcases creative works and designs in Singapore. Innovation and creativity is what keeps our small nation going in this competitive world.

There are other fringe activities happening in the area here so there’s definitely quite a lot to see and check out the various exhibitions held across the island.

This particular exhibition is meaningful and well-curated. If you are into the arts and design, you should definitely check it out. You can bring home some free SG Design Week merch like tote bags, keychains and stickers.

This, in my opinion, is bigger and better than the sausage exhibition (which is also part of SG Design Week).

What makes this exhibition special is its focus on innovative design that captures Singapore's dynamic spirit. I was particularly impressed by how the museum transforms ordinary history into something playful and thought-provoking, especially with displays like the Merlion fossils that are both surprising and educational. The exhibition is held inside the National Design Centre, a hub for creative energy where you can also explore various artistic events happening nearby. Planning your visit is easy since the museum operates from 9am to 9pm daily, giving you ample time to enjoy the exhibits without rushing. Aside from viewing fascinating displays, I loved collecting the free SG Design Week merchandise such as tote bags and stickers – little keepsakes that add to the overall fun. The atmosphere felt welcoming and interactive, ideal for anyone interested in design, art, or Singapore’s cultural narratives. Moreover, the museum is part of a vibrant series of events scattered across the island during the Design Week, so you can extend your visit to explore other installations and exhibitions. This makes it a perfect outing for families, students, or anyone looking to dive into Singapore’s creative scene. If you’ve been to more traditional natural history museums before, this one offers a fresh and quirky alternative that celebrates the ‘unnatural’ in the most captivating ways. It’s a fantastic way to appreciate Singapore’s innovation and artistic talent all in one space, blending education with creativity seamlessly.
