📍 The Early Days: The Small Spring-side City (Pre-1990s)
Jinan was once confined to the tiny "Mingfu City" (157.62 sq. km.), nestled between the Yellow River in the north and Qianfo Mountain in the south. Jingshi Road only had two lanes in each direction, and everything east of the Yanshan Overpass was farmland! 🌾 Yet, even then, "Xiaoya" washing machines were spreading nationwide, and the High-Tech Zone planted its first seeds of innovation on that soil.
🛣️ 1990s - 2000s: "East Expansion and West Advancement"
This era shattered the ancient city layout!
1991: The national-level High-Tech Zone was established, and Qilu Software Park rose to become the "Northern Zhongguancun."
2003: The municipal government moved east to the Olympic Sports Center, igniting a massive construction boom!
2009: Changqing University Town opened, gathering 200,000 youthful forces!
But what old Jinan residents cherished most were: Queuing at dawn to fetch spring water, hunting for old books at the early morning market on Hero Mountain, and buying flower cloth at the West Market. 💖
🌉 2010s to Present: The "Yellow River Era"
The changes that truly transformed Jinan!
2018: The incorporation of Laiwu saw the city's area skyrocket to 10,244 sq. km.! 📈
2021: The "First Tunnel Under the Yellow River" opened, allowing crossings in 4 minutes and reshaping millennia-old perceptions of the river.
2023: Five super-high-rise buildings in the CBD were topped off, with the Yunding Tower piercing the skyline at 339 meters. 🏙️
What changes is the city's framework, but what remains constant is the unceasing spring flow!
Baotu Spring has been continuously flowing for 20 years, and Qushuiting Street still boasts the quintessential Spring City scene: "every household with spring water and hanging willows." 💦
