🌋🌍 Witness the World's Majesty: 5 Volcanoes from a Satellite View! 🌍🌋
Have you ever wondered what the world's active and dormant volcanoes look like from above? Today, we're taking you on an epic journey with stunning satellite images of five famous volcanic groups from around the globe!
1. Changbai Mountain (Bai Tou Shan / Paektu Mountain) - China/North Korea 🇨🇳🇰🇵
The Changbai Mountain Volcanic Group is one of the most completely preserved Neogene multi-cause composite volcanic groups in China. Its main features include Bai Tou Shan (White Head Mountain) and the spectacular Tianchi Volcano, home to Heaven Lake—a massive, crystal-clear caldera lake that forms a natural border between China and North Korea.
2. Sakurajima Volcano - Japan 🇯🇵
Located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Sakurajima is one of Japan's most active composite volcanoes. Composed of three volcanic bodies (North Peak, Central Peak, and South Peak), it has erupted over 60 times since the first recorded event in 708 AD. In 1914, a massive eruption connected the island to the Osumi Peninsula mainland with a lava flow.
3. Taal Volcano - Philippines 🇵🇭
With an altitude of only about 311 meters, Taal Volcano is one of the lowest and smallest volcanoes in the world. However, don't let its size fool you! Located within the Taal Lake caldera, it is one of the Philippines' most active and deadliest volcanoes, with a history of frequent, violent eruptions.
4. Volcán de Colima - Mexico 🇲🇽
Situated on the border of Jalisco and Colima states, Volcán de Colima (often called the "Fire Volcano") is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes globally. In nearly 500 years, it has caused massive eruptions and destruction, earning its reputation as a formidable natural force.
5. Mount Rainier - USA 🇺🇸
An active stratovolcano in Washington State, Mount Rainier is the highest peak in the Cascade Range. Its Native American name, Tahoma, means "Palace of the Thunder God." Due to its immense volume of glacial ice, which could produce destructive lahars (volcanic mudflows) if it erupts, it is listed as one of the world's Decade Volcanoes.
