Sparkly hurt! Meta could be fined up to 10% of "global revenue" after EU and UK prepare to apply law
The glitter hurts hard! Meta could be fined up to 10% of "global revenue" behind the EU and UK preparing to implement steel law to tackle the AI monopoly issue ⚖️📉
Mark Zuckerberg seems to be having a heavy headache lately because Meta is facing huge legal pressure on both the EU and the UK sides. 🌐
🇪🇺 What happened on the EU side?
The European Commission is preparing to implement a law forcing Meta to turn on the WhatsApp system, allowing "rival company AI chatbots" to connect and use it, to create fair competition.
Earlier in January, Meta had previously blocked other companies' AI assistants from using WhatsApp.
When the EU hit the pressure in March, it switched to "fee collection," but that caused the developer's cost to skyrocket! (for example, the co-founder of Poke.com revealed that the cost skyrocketed from $0.13 to $15.75 per user).
Most recently, to buy time to negotiate and avoid fines that could reach 10% of global revenue, Meta offered AI chat bots in the European Economic Area a "30-day free" access to the WhatsApp Business API.
🇬🇧 the UK side is no less face!
At the same time, the United Kingdom is also preparing to consider adjusting Meta based on the "global total revenue" base, which Meta immediately argued that the order is' disproportionate and unlawful ', and that fate is now in the hands of the High Court to decide. 🏛️
⏰ The time for negotiations is getting less and less; the EU clearly reiterates that Meta must show sincerity in this solution if it is not agreed...Colossal penalties and fines may certainly be inevitable!
Friends, how do you think Meta will figure this out? Comment, let's talk. 👇
