Just rest...Not Privacy! Meta Let Employees Press Stop "Work Tracking System"
Just rest...It's not privacy! Meta lets employees stop "Work Tracking System," but only 30 minutes. ⏱️
Who works the screen and feels like they're constantly being watched? 👁️ Most recently, Meta employees have a button to stop working on the Workplace Tracking Software that is already a point of debate in the company, but this relief says that...Super temporary! 😅
The new feature is called "Focus Mode," which interrupts mouse-scrolling data, click positions, and screen caps...But wait! The system will only stop you for 30 minutes. ⏳
When the time is up, the tracking system will resume automatically. If the employee wants to continue privacy, remember and wait to press this button every half hour. If you miss it, the system will continue to follow your working life.
💻 What happened before?
This software, called the Model Capability Initiative (MCI), was installed on employees' computers to train and develop their AI Agents, which at first did not have any Opt-out button! It caused employees to protest heavily, and the emoji was angry in the internal system, and the leaflet was put into protest in the company's bathroom. 🚽📄
Interestingly, instead of Meta removing this tracking system to hear the demands, they instead chose a small "privacy break time," which many saw as a compromise designed to make people feel more frustrated.
As the last sentence says,..
"A pause button, not privacy...But it's a license with an expiration date, "🛑
