Nvidia Intramural Show! Convert AI Heat to Community Power with Reduction of Coolant to 0% 💧🔥

Deep Kub, you know, one of the big problems with building a data center for AI right now is "pumping water and using huge lights" to cool the servers, but recently there is very interesting data from Nvidia to help turn this around more sustainably. 💡

This technology is the new Closed-loop Liquid Cooling, which has two main highlights that I want to tell you:

💧 Reduce cooling water consumption to almost zero.

Ordinary coolant systems usually evaporate and lose water in the air, but this new closed system uses a repeated method of circulating coolant in the pipe, allowing us to save huge freshwater resources.

🔥 Turning excess heat to good use.

The AI server, when running a heavy model, releases a lot of heat instead of just throwing it away. Nvidia sees that we can capture heat here and pass it on to a house, office, or district heating system in the neighborhood.
