Most recently, many local governments in the United States have been on alert and have ordered the construction of new data centers for AI and Cloud Computing. The main reason is not technology, but resource concerns, the huge consumption of electricity, and the heavy use of space to burden the city's infrastructure. ⚡💧
As we all know, modern AI systems require very high processing power, and tech companies are competing to expand a large data center full of servers and cooling systems that consumes huge fires and requires millions of gallons of water per day to cool.

According to the review, the situation is tense. Moratoria has been proposed in at least 12 states across the United States.
Maine became the first state to pass a law suspending the construction of a large Data Center until November 2027.
New York State recently voted to pass a state-level bill to temporarily suspend it for 1 year; to assess energy and environmental impacts.
Interestingly, at the national level, U.S. MPs and MPs have also started proposing a bill to temporarily stop building data centers across the country.
Why resist?
The main problem is that these major projects draw so much electricity in the area that the "general public's electricity bill" risks becoming more expensive, and there is data that more than two-thirds of the new Data Centers are planning to go to drought-stricken areas. 🏜️
