You know, while we're having a headache with the overflow of plastic waste, nature may have created a prepared solution for us! 🌿 Researchers have discovered a tiny hero fungus hidden in the Amazon jungle (the younger has the scientific name Pestalotiopsis microspora, discovered by a team of researchers from Yale University).
The cool of the tiny mushroom:
Plastic Eating Line: Can use polyurethane-type plastic degrading enzymes, which are durable and difficult to degrade, to become its main food source.
Best Survival: Being able to work and survive even in anaerobic conditions means that in the future, we may use this fungus to manage deep-lying plastic waste at the bottom of a waste pond. 😲
Although the discovery is still in the research stage to find ways to scale it to industrial use, this is important evidence that "natural microbes" will play a very important role in waste management and environmental cleanup technologies in the future. ♻️✨
