🚀 The U.S. Army is accelerating a major revamp of its ballistic missile stockpile in preparation for a high-rate ammunition-consuming conflict.

One of the key projects is the JAGM or Joint Air-to-Ground Missile, a new generation of air-to-ground weapons that are gradually replacing the original Hellfire missile, which has been deployed since the 1980s.

JAGM uses a range of guidance systems, helping cope with both stationary and moving targets, as well as performing better in inclement weather or obscured battlefields, having been in production since 2018.

📊 The United States Department of Defense program document indicates a total JAGM procurement plan of approximately 26,000 balls, referring to the combined annual capacity of the Hellfire and JAGM families for multiple troops and exports.

In addition to JAGM, the Army is also ahead of other systems such as PrSM as a replacement for ATACMS in long-range strike missions and a new generation of air defense systems for handling drones, aircraft and cruise missiles.

⚙️ The goal is not only to shoot farther or more accurately, but also to withstand electronic interference, software upgrades, and increasing production capacity. After the recent war, it was clear that "modern weapons" were not enough to produce a replacement.
