The investigation involved at least two attacks in March 2026: a CIA station inside the U.S. Embassy, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and another location in eastern Iraq.

Some Western officials estimate that the attack in Riyadh may have used an improved Shahed drone with Russian technology, while another source mentions the Kometa-M satellite navigation system, which may have improved accuracy and better resistance to interference.
