Spring- fall MX-5
It's that time of year again! Saying goodbye to my beloved Midnight Purple MX-5 Miata as I put her away for winter. It's always a bit sad, knowing this will be the last post for a while before spring, but proper winter storage is absolutely crucial for keeping a car like this in top condition, especially one as special as a Midnight Purple MX-5. You know, there’s just something about this color – it really makes the Miata stand out, shifting from deep blue to rich violet depending on the light. It’s not just a car; it’s a statement, and that makes taking care of it even more important. When it comes to putting my Midnight Purple Miata away for the cold months, I follow a pretty strict routine to ensure she comes out just as beautiful next spring. First things first, a thorough wash and wax. You want to make sure there's no dirt, grime, or salt left on the paintwork that could cause corrosion over time. For a unique color like Midnight Purple, a good wax not only protects but also keeps that stunning shimmer alive, even under a car cover. I also pay extra attention to cleaning the wheels and undercarriage, as these areas often collect the most road debris. Next up, fluids. I always make sure the oil is fresh, and the coolant is topped up and at the right concentration for freezing temperatures. It's a small step, but vital for engine health during dormancy. I also disconnect the battery or use a trickle charger to prevent it from dying over the long winter. Nothing worse than pulling out your Midnight Purple MX-5 in spring only to find it won't start! Tires are another big one. I overinflate them slightly to help prevent flat spots from forming while the car sits. If you have jack stands, lifting the car completely off its tires is even better, but not everyone has that setup. And speaking of protection, a good quality car cover is a must. It keeps dust and moisture away, protecting that gorgeous Midnight Purple paint from any accidental scratches or environmental damage in the garage. Lastly, I address the interior. A good vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, and placing some moisture absorbers in the cabin help prevent mold and mildew. Nobody wants to open up their Midnight Purple Miata in spring to a musty smell! It might seem like a lot of work, but for a car that brings so much joy, especially one with such a distinctive look, it’s entirely worth the effort. Knowing she's safely tucked away until the next driving season gives me peace of mind. Can't wait for spring to roll around again to hit the open road in my stunning Midnight Purple MX-5!
