Don’t panic!

... Read moreI've found that when panic starts to creep in, the best thing to do is focus on your immediate surroundings and engage in simple activities that help center your mind. For example, during social hangouts, whether with friends or family, try to immerse yourself fully in conversations instead of worrying about distractions or what might go wrong. One useful trick is to remember the phrase "TGIF!"—it reminds me to appreciate the end of a busy week and look forward to relaxing moments. Also, taking deep breaths and practicing mindfulness can drastically reduce feelings of anxiety. When I feel overwhelmed, I tell myself "don’t panic", and that mantra helps push negative thoughts away. For Gen X women specifically, balancing multiple roles can be challenging. It's important to carve out time for self-care and connect with friends who understand your experiences. Sharing stories and laughter in these hangouts creates a positive atmosphere that naturally alleviates stress. Overall, the key is to stay present in the moment and focus on right now, letting go of past worries or future uncertainties. This approach has helped me handle panic better and enjoy my social time more fully.
