Something Changed When I Stopped Trying to Heal Overnight.
Healing used to feel like something I had to rush.
I thought if I prayed enough, cried enough, or stayed busy enough, I’d wake up one day and everything would be okay.
I’m learning that’s not how healing works.
Some days I still think about the things that hurt me.
Some days I still feel overwhelmed.
Some days I still question myself.
But I’m also noticing something…
I’m smiling more.
I’m protecting my peace.
I’m setting better boundaries.
I’m choosing myself without feeling guilty.
Maybe healing isn’t about never hurting again.
Maybe it’s about hurting a little less while becoming a little stronger.
So today, I’m celebrating progress instead of perfection.
If you’re healing too, I’m praying you give yourself permission to grow at your own pace. 🤍
What’s one way you’ve grown this year, even if it’s something small?

Healing is often portrayed as a race to a finish line—an end point where pain disappears completely and life returns to perfect balance. But from my own journey, I've realized that healing is far more nuanced and ongoing. When I stopped pushing myself to heal overnight, I found a new kind of freedom. Instead of expecting instant change, I allowed myself to experience my emotions fully and acknowledge the ups and downs of recovery. One of the most powerful changes was learning to be patient and trust the timing of my personal growth. This meant accepting that feeling hurt or overwhelmed sometimes is normal and doesn’t erase the progress I’ve made. It also meant embracing grace over guilt, faith over fear, and peace over worry—daily choices that strengthen resilience. Setting boundaries became a crucial part of protecting my peace. This wasn’t always easy, especially when it felt selfish at first. Yet, by valuing my well-being, I became a stronger version of myself capable of facing challenges without losing sight of who I am. Spiritual practice also helped me stay grounded. A simple prayer each day reminded me to be patient and to trust God’s plan. This helped shift my mindset from seeking perfection to appreciating progress and grace, making healing feel less daunting. If you’re on a healing path, I encourage you to honor your pace. Celebrate even the smallest growth—whether it’s a smile on a tough day, stronger boundaries, or simply choosing yourself without guilt. Healing doesn’t demand immediacy; it calls for compassion, patience, and continuous nurturing of your inner strength.

This!!! I've been through sooooo much the past few years and I actually started following God about a year ago. I can say I'm finally smiling and enjoying life again 💗🫶
