Merman Izuku and Garden Boy Katsuki
Someone on Twitter gave me this idea and I fell in love with it and just HAD to sketch it. Sorry if it’s hard to see #artistsoflemon8 #art #artist #sketch
You know, one of the most exciting things about being in a fandom like My Hero Academia is seeing all the incredible Alternate Universes (AUs) people come up with! It's like taking characters you love, like Izuku and Katsuki, and dropping them into a whole new world. That's exactly how I felt when I discovered the idea for a Merman Izuku and Garden Boy Katsuki AU – it instantly sparked my imagination! For me, the magic of this particular AU is the beautiful contrast. Imagine Izuku, with his earnest heart and often watery eyes, as a majestic merman. His 'scaled tail' would be so vibrant, perhaps shimmering green like the ocean depths, and his 'curly hair' might float around him in the water. We often see him in his hero costume, but picturing him with a tail, maybe even wearing those signature 'glasses' underwater, just opens up so many creative possibilities. And then there's Katsuki, typically fiery and explosive, reimagined as a grounded 'garden boy.' You can almost see him with his iconic 'spiky hair' slightly mussed from tending plants, perhaps wearing practical 'suspenders' over a simple shirt. It’s such a charming, unexpected dynamic that just makes you smile. This kind of creative reinterpretation isn't just fun for drawing; it's a goldmine for cosplayers! When I drew my sketch, I couldn't help but think about how amazing a Merman Izuku cosplay would look – the challenge of crafting a realistic, swimmable scaled tail, or even just a detailed top half. And for Garden Boy Katsuki, it's about capturing that blend of his usual intensity with a softer, more earthy aesthetic. What kind of flowers would he tend? How would his gardening tools reflect his personality? These are the questions that inspire both artists and cosplayers to bring these beloved characters to life in new and imaginative ways. Fan art, like the sketch I shared, often serves as a blueprint or a jumping-off point for cosplay. It’s about visualizing a concept and then, if you're a cosplayer, translating that vision into a tangible outfit. It's a way of celebrating the characters we adore and showing our love for the stories they inhabit. Whether it's crafting an intricate scaled tail for Izuku or finding the perfect suspenders and gardening gloves for Katsuki, the dedication and creativity involved are truly inspiring. It just goes to show how much passion exists in our fandom, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity and interpretation. I'd love to hear what other AUs you've seen or even cosplayed!
