COTL Cofi

Welp it’s not complete yet BUT I heard that the creator or someone who works on #chiknnuggit actually are fans of cult of the lamb so I attempted to draw the video game and cartoon version of THEIR Sheep, Cofi….let’s say this is a part 1 of something I wanted to posted this week but got distracted…I love Cofi! PS I included the fanart from the artist as proof, and an extra bonus pic for the #cotl hashtag for now lol. #cultofthelamb #characterredesign

... Read moreWow, you guys, I'm so thrilled to share this Cofi fanart with you! It started as a spontaneous idea after hearing about the Chikn Nuggit creators being fans of Cult of the Lamb, and I just HAD to bring Cofi into that world. Imagining her as a follower or even a boss in COTL was too much fun to resist! For those who know Cofi from Chikn Nuggit, you know she's got that adorable, innocent sheep look but with a fierce, 'lone wolf' alter-ego hiding underneath. That duality made her the perfect candidate for a Cult of the Lamb redesign! The game's characters often have these cute, almost chibi-like forms, yet they can be incredibly menacing or powerful, especially the Bishops and mini-bosses. I really wanted to capture that essence with Cofi. My goal was to take her original cartoon appearance and infuse it with the dark, yet whimsical, art style of COTL. I explored various fanart interpretations in my head, from a sweet pink sheep follower to a more dynamic, sharp-clawed wolf form that could fit right into a combat sequence. When creating Cult of the Lamb fanart or even original characters (OCs) within that universe, paying attention to the unique art style is key. It's a blend of cute, almost plush-toy-like creatures with pagan, cultish, and sometimes gruesome elements. Think about the exaggerated proportions – large heads, small bodies, expressive eyes. The textures often have a hand-drawn, almost crayon-like quality, but with sharp, clean lines for details like claws or weaponry. For my Cofi redesign, I focused on giving her a more textured, slightly rougher look, incorporating elements like the distinctive sharp claws you see on some of the game's creatures, even in her more wolf-like representations. I also considered the color palette; COTL often uses rich, deep colors with splashes of vibrant hues for eyes or magical effects. If you're thinking about creating your own Cult of the Lamb characters or redesigns, here are a few tips I picked up: Embrace the Duality: Many COTL characters have a cute exterior with a darker, more complex inner nature. How can you show that? For Cofi, it was pushing her wolf side, making her look both endearing and a bit dangerous. Study the Art Style: Look at how The Lamb, the Bishops, and even the regular followers are drawn. Notice the simplified shapes, the expressive eyes, and the often-minimalistic mouths. How do they convey emotion? Incorporate Cult Elements: Think about symbols, ritualistic clothing, or even minor details like a small cult insignia. For my Cofi, I imagined what kind of adornments she might have in the COTL world. Experiment with Forms: Don't be afraid to try different interpretations. My Cofi fanart went from a simple sheep to a more detailed wolf-like character, and even a chibi version. The OCR results showed various fanart interpretations, which is a great way to explore character possibilities. Pay Attention to Detail (but keep it simple): The art style is visually rich but not overly detailed. Focus on distinct features that make your character recognizable within the COTL universe. I'm really excited about this project and can't wait to share more as it progresses. It's so inspiring to see how other artists interpret the Cult of the Lamb art style and create their own versions of characters like The Lamb or even design unique OCs. What kind of Cult of the Lamb characters or redesigns would you love to see next, or have you tried creating your own? Share your thoughts!
