Transparency//Pt. 2 Skyland Series 🤍
Wheww!! So last year, I challenged myself to read 12 books and sadly I did not succeed. I literally had less than 35 pages left of this book to complete my goal, yet I was so distracted.
Sooo 🥁….. I’ve decided to not only continue my reading journey/challenge 🥰 I’m increasing my goal from 12 to 30 🤭.
🟢💛 Book 1/30 completed for my 2026 reading goal 🤌🏾📚 (a win is a win)
Within this new chapter, “I’m wide awake, reborn, rebirthed through my own fire and pain and work and wisdom” - Soledad Charles / Kennedy Ryan
Beyond authentic, I’m excited to read Hendrix story 💜.
Taking on a reading challenge is no easy feat, especially when daily distractions sneak up and almost keep you from completing your goal. I completely relate to the feeling of being just a few pages away from success, only to realize that life gets in the way. What helped me flip that challenge into motivation was setting a bigger goal and rekindling my excitement for the stories themselves. One book that stood out to me during this journey is by Kennedy Ryan, whose writing captured so much vulnerability and strength. The quote, “I’m wide awake, reborn, rebirthed through my own fire and pain and work and wisdom,” deeply resonated. It’s refreshing to see authors who can touch on raw emotions and transform them into empowering narratives. Hendrix’s story, in particular, feels beyond authentic and reminds me how storytelling can heal and inspire. If you’re looking to jumpstart your reading habit, I recommend picking authors and genres that truly speak to you. Social tags like #booktok and #blackgirlsread are great communities where passionate readers share recommendations and motivate each other. Embracing vulnerability through reading can open doors to new perspectives and personal growth. For anyone wanting to boost their consistency, try setting incremental milestones or celebrating even the smallest wins. Finishing just one book, as I did with my first toward the 30-book goal, is indeed a win. This mindset keeps me going and ensures that the act of reading remains a joyful journey, not just a task. Ultimately, this challenge reminds me that reading is more than just hitting numbers. It’s about embracing stories that reflect life’s complexities and finding strength within them — something that Kennedy Ryan’s bestselling works perfectly embody.
