20 STEP Haircare Routine!!!
After watching that dermatologist react to a crazy 20-step haircare routine, it really got me thinking: do we really need all that to have healthy, beautiful hair? I've been on my own journey to simplify my routine and embrace more natural hair care steps, and I wanted to share what I've learned from experts and my own experience. It turns out, a truly effective routine doesn't have to be complicated or involve products with no scientific backing. For me, a good natural hair care routine starts with understanding my scalp. Just like our skin, our scalp needs attention. I've found that a gentle scalp scrub once a week can make a huge difference in removing buildup and promoting healthy hair growth. You know how the derm in the video questioned some steps? Well, for me, a good scrub feels amazing and helps my hair feel lighter and cleaner. Next up is washing. I aim for sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. The goal is to cleanse without stripping your hair of its natural oils. After shampooing, I always follow with a good conditioner, focusing on the ends. Sometimes, I'll even leave it in for a few extra minutes as a quick hair mask if my hair feels dry. This is where those steps can get a bit mixed up, but keeping it simple and sequential really works. Detangling is another crucial step that often gets overlooked or done incorrectly. I always use a wide-tooth comb or a detangle brush on wet hair, starting from the ends and working my way up. This prevents breakage, which is key for maintaining length and overall hair health. When it comes to treatments, I'm a big fan of hair oil! While some trends like excessive rosemary water or oil claims might lack strong scientific backing, a high-quality hair oil applied to the ends can provide incredible moisture and shine. I usually apply a little before blow-drying or air-drying, and it makes my hair feel so soft. For me, it's about choosing products that genuinely nourish and protect. Another thing I learned is the importance of protecting your hair from heat. If you're going to blow-dry or use styling tools, a good leave-in protector is non-negotiable. It’s one of those steps that the dermatologist probably wouldn't argue with, because it genuinely helps preserve your hair's integrity. Finally, don't forget inner health! While the 20-step routine ended with something like Nutrafol, the general idea of supporting hair health from within is super valid. Eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, staying hydrated, and managing stress all contribute to healthy hair growth. It’s clear that nobody needs a 20-step routine. By focusing on a few core, effective natural hair care routine steps—like proper cleansing, conditioning, gentle detangling, and targeted treatments—you can achieve amazing results without all the fuss. My hair has never felt better since I stopped overcomplicating things and started listening to what it truly needs.
