Sunscreen MISINFORMATION

2025/4/12 Edited to

... Read moreSunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from harmful UV rays, yet misconceptions about its use persist. Many believe that just a small amount of sunscreen is adequate; however, dermatologists recommend applying a generous amount—about one ounce for full body coverage. It's crucial to apply sunscreen liberally to areas often missed, such as the ears, neck, and the tops of the feet. Another common myth is that sunscreen doesn’t expire. Like most skincare products, sunscreen has a shelf life and loses its effectiveness past its expiration date. If you've opened a bottle, be sure to check for the expiration date and remember that most sunscreens should be replaced every three years, regardless of the expiration date if they've been continuously opened. Additionally, many users apply sunscreen unevenly or don't apply it at all on cloudy days, leading to false security. UV rays can penetrate clouds, making daily application essential, even on overcast days. Furthermore, understanding the SPF rating is key; a higher SPF means more protection, but it’s a common misconception that SPF 100 offers double the protection of SPF 50. Lastly, thorough removal of sunscreen at the end of the day is often neglected. Waterproof sunscreens require specific cleansing products, such as cleansing oils or balms, for effective removal, ensuring that skin can breathe and preventing potential breakouts. Educating ourselves on these aspects can significantly improve our skin protection habits.

This is going to be the very very basics of sunscreen. I adore sunscreen and I honestly used to hate it because I was using some horribly formulated sunscreen. Also fun fact, who knew that America has not updated sunscreen formulas in forever ?? That’s why I love Korean sunscreen and skin care prod
