I’m looking for friends, community, and fellow moms that just GET IT. ILYLAS already. 🌸💕 #firstthingsfirstimfirst #ilovebeingamom #momfriend #momtok #momsintheir30s
Finding your mom tribe can feel like a real 'audition,' can't it? We put ourselves out there, hoping to connect with someone who just *gets it*. It’s not always easy, especially when life with little ones feels like a whirlwind. But trust me, finding those genuine connections is so worth it, and it's absolutely possible! One of the biggest hurdles is often knowing where to even start. For me, it was realizing I needed to actively seek out those connections, much like I'm doing now. Don't wait for friends to magically appear. Start by looking at local community groups or online spaces. Apps like Lemon8 are fantastic for this, allowing you to share your real life – the good, the messy, the 'it can't always be perfect but it can always be done' moments. You can find local mom groups on Facebook, attend story time at your library, or even strike up conversations at the park. Think about what you love. Are you into 'working out' like me? Join a mom-and-baby fitness class or a local running group. Do your 'kids are your hobbies' right now? Perfect! That means you'll be spending time at playgrounds, playdates, and school events – all prime opportunities to meet other parents. Don't be afraid to initiate a chat. A simple "Our kids are having so much fun together!" can open the door. I've learned that authenticity is key. Like my own 'rapid fire audition' where I share everything from being an 'iPad kid' to loving pop culture and admitting 'my boobs are fake,' being yourself is the best way to attract your true people. You don't need to pretend to be someone you're not. Share your quirks, your struggles, and your real interests. If you're into 'online health and wellness coaching for women' or just love discussing the latest pop culture drama, let that shine through. The right friends will appreciate the real you. And remember that mantra: 'it can't always be perfect, but it can always be done.' This applies so much to friendships! Don't wait for the perfect moment or feel like you need your house to be spotless to invite someone over. Just make the effort. Send that text, suggest that coffee date, even if it's just for 30 minutes between naps. Getting 'out of the house with your again' and putting yourself in new social situations, even if they feel a bit awkward at first, gets easier the more you do it. Self-care also plays a role in being a good friend and having the energy to nurture those connections. When you take care of yourself, you have more to give. So whether your 'self care' looks like hitting the gym, getting your eyebrows microbladed, or just being an 'iPad kid' at night, make sure you're filling your cup. Because happy, authentic moms attract other happy, authentic moms. Ultimately, finding your mom friends is about putting yourself out there, being open, and understanding that it's a process. Not every connection will turn into a lifelong friendship, and that's okay. The goal is to find those few who truly 'get it' – who understand the unique joys and challenges of motherhood, and with whom you can share the journey. Keep looking for friends, community, and fellow moms that just GET IT, and you'll find your tribe!
