Why I delete social media at 22 🫶

I realized something: TikTok and Instagram were consuming my life in ways I didn’t even notice until I stepped back. I was constantly scrolling, chasing trends, comparing myself to strangers, and feeling stuck in a cycle of validation through likes and views.

Social media can be fun and inspiring, but for me, it had become a distraction from the real world and the person I wanted to be. Instead of feeling connected, I felt drained. Instead of being inspired, I felt pressure to keep up with an endless stream of content that often left me questioning my own worth.

So, I decided to delete both platforms. It wasn’t an easy choice, but it was a necessary one. I wanted to reclaim my time, energy, and peace of mind. Now, I’m focused on building meaningful connections, pursuing my passions, and living in the moment—without the constant noise of social media.

Sometimes, you have to let go of what isn’t serving you to make space for what truly matters.

... Read moreIn today's digital age, many people, especially young adults, find themselves overwhelmed by social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. While these platforms can bring joy and innovation, they often lead to feelings of anxiety and self-doubt due to constant comparisons and an unending need for validation through likes and comments. The decision to delete social media can be daunting yet liberating. Studies have shown that taking breaks from social media can improve mental health, decrease stress, and increase focus on personal goals. It allows individuals to return to real-world interactions, foster deeper relationships, and engage in activities that truly bring joy. Users are encouraged to consider their social media habits critically. Reflecting on how time spent on these platforms affects mood and self-worth can provide insights into personal well-being. Establishing digital boundaries or even temporary social media detoxes could be a starting point for those feeling trapped by the online world. Ultimately, prioritizing mental health and personal growth over the curated lives seen online is essential. If you find yourself questioning your worth based on social media interactions, it may be worth exploring the impacts of your online habits and reassessing their place in your life.
