Ways to recover from ADHD burnout
ADHD Burnout can be a vicious cycle that can be debilitating. Here’s a few ways to recover.
💤 Rest first
💧 Fuel + hydrate
📝 Tiny steps only
⏰ Slow down, guilt-free
🌿 Block out overload
🤝 Text a safe friend
🧘♀️ Breathe it out
💕 Know that healing takes time
ADHD burnout is a common yet often overlooked challenge, especially among women who might face unique pressures related to managing daily tasks. Recognizing the signs of ADHD burnout such as mental exhaustion, decreased motivation, and difficulty focusing is the first step toward recovery. To effectively manage and recover, prioritize rest since your body and brain need adequate downtime to heal and regain function. Hydration and balanced nutrition are vital in fueling your body and preventing further burnout symptoms. Gentle movement, including even a short walk, can help improve mood and cognitive function without overwhelming the system. Breaking tasks into small, manageable steps reduces overwhelm and builds a sense of accomplishment. Allow yourself permission to slow down without guilt, as pacing is crucial in avoiding further burnout. Reducing sensory input, such as using noise-canceling headphones or dimming lights, can alleviate overstimulation common in ADHD. Connecting with trusted friends—even through a quick text—provides emotional support and reassurance, which is instrumental in mental recovery. Incorporating calming practices such as deep breathing, stretching, or journaling aids in managing stress and increasing mindfulness. Importantly, remind yourself that recovery takes time. Patience and consistent self-care foster sustainable healing rather than quick fixes. Embracing these strategies can help women with ADHD regain control and improve their quality of life by breaking the vicious cycle of burnout.

I think I am beyond my burnout, but once I encounter something that reminds me of that time, I avoid avoid avoid. It emotionally hurts. I recognized this a while ago but have purposefully put it into action not long ago.
