Art work story
There are a lot of glitches on lemon 8 lately particularly with challenges and I don’t know if it is because of the nation wide outage or if there are just a lot of bugs with the new update. Anyway this is a still life piece we did in art class
After finishing that still life piece in art class, I couldn't help but feel a spark of inspiration to explore even more creative avenues. It got me thinking about how we can truly elevate our art beyond just what's visible, by incorporating elements that engage other senses or tell a deeper story. If you're like me, constantly looking for ways to make your creations stand out, I've been experimenting with some exciting ideas. One fascinating area is incorporating elements like music into my visual art. It's not about literally adding music to a painting, but rather letting it influence the mood, rhythm, and color palette. For example, when I listen to a powerful orchestral piece, I find myself using bolder, more sweeping brushstrokes, reflecting the grandness of the sound. A calming, ambient track might inspire softer hues and more fluid lines, creating a sense of peace. I've even tried to visualize the 'shape' of a song – the crescendos, the gentle decays – and translate that into abstract forms or dynamic compositions. It’s a wonderful way to tap into emotional depth and infuse your artwork with a different kind of energy. Who knew a playlist could be such a powerful muse? Then there's the captivating world of dance. While a still life is, by definition, static, the principles of movement and expression from dance can absolutely be woven into any artistic creation. Think about how dancers use their bodies to convey stories, emotions, and energy. We can apply this to our visual art by focusing on dynamic composition. Instead of rigid lines, I try to imagine the flow of a dancer's arm or the sweep of a skirt. Even in a still life, how objects interact, their implied motion, or the way light dances across their surfaces can evoke a sense of rhythm. I've found that sketching quick gestural drawings of dancers helps train my eye to see and capture movement, which then informs my more detailed work. It’s like giving inanimate objects a soul through the suggestion of motion. Beyond specific art forms, exploring creative aspects in general has become a huge passion of mine. I constantly challenge myself to look at everyday objects or scenes with fresh eyes. What if I tried painting this still life from an unusual angle? Or used a completely different medium than I'm used to? Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs come from stepping outside our comfort zones. I've started keeping a small sketchbook specifically for 'what if' ideas – tiny experiments or wild concepts that might seem silly at first but often lead to unexpected discoveries. Don't be afraid to make mistakes; they're just stepping stones to something new and exciting. Embracing imperfection and the journey of learning is, for me, the core of being truly creative. What are some unique ways you've found to inject more creativity into your projects?

I like it, I’ve always wanted to try negative space like that but I don’t like chalk pastels 😭 I think you are off to a great start tho!
