#tutorial How To wear A Tube Sarong

This is the tutorial you never realised you needed! If you don't have a waist sash or tali pinggang and wondering how you should wear your tube Sarong, or just have one lying around your house, this is your sign to give that sarong a new lease of life.

... Read moreWearing a tube sarong can feel tricky at first, especially if you're accustomed to using a waist sash or tali pinggang. From my experience, the best way to get comfortable is to understand the shape and structure of the tube sarong—it’s essentially a seamless tube of fabric designed to be slipped over the lower body. One tip that helped me was focusing on the placement of the tumpal (the sarong’s hem or edge). When you step into the sarong, make sure the tumpal is facing the front but then move it slightly towards the back to create a natural fold. Crossing your hands around your elbows to hold the sarong securely while tucking the fabric on one side ensures the sarong stays in place without needing an additional belt. Without a tali pinggang, tying the edge near your waist tightly but comfortably will let you adjust the fit while keeping the fabric smooth. Tucking the knot close to your body around the ankles helps maintain the shape and prevents the sarong from loosening throughout the day. This method also pairs perfectly if you plan to wear traditional pieces like a kebaya over the sarong. For added style, try experimenting with different tucks and folds once you get comfortable. Some people add a small decorative pin or brooch to secure the fold if they find knots uncomfortable. And if the sarong fabric is lightweight, wearing a slip underneath can add modesty and prevent it from clinging. Overall, this tube sarong styling method is a great way to breathe new life into a classic piece you might already have at home. It’s simple, practical, and embraces cultural aesthetics while keeping modern wearability in mind.
