I struggled with speaking clearly, especially when talking to a camera or presenting something. I noticed frequent stuttering and unfinished sentences, which made me self-conscious. During the rise of short-form content like TikTok, I found myself endlessly scrolling through quick video clips, which seemed harmless but impacted the way I spoke. The fragmented audio clips disrupted the natural flow of sentences in my mind, and I realized this was affecting my own speech patterns. To fix this, I decided to switch my media consumption habits. Instead of short abrupt videos, I started listening to long-form podcasts and watching YouTube videos with full, coherent speech. Podcasts like "Rotten Mangoes" and "Diary of a CEO" became my go-to sources. This exposed me to people completing their thoughts fully without interruptions. This change transformed my speaking abilities. Listening to complete sentences helped retrain my brain to process language smoothly and improved my confidence in verbal communication. When filming videos, I no longer needed to edit out awkward pauses or stuttering. For anyone struggling with speech, especially in this age of bite-sized content, I highly recommend consuming more long-form audio or video content. It’s a simple yet effective way to improve how you articulate your thoughts and connect better with your audience.
