Always take the high ground
Guys, if there's one pivotal lesson I've learned playing Apex Legends, it's this: always, and I mean *always*, try to take the high ground. It’s not just a cool phrase; it's a fundamental strategy that can drastically improve your gameplay and secure those sweet victories. I've personally seen countless engagements turn in our favor just because we had that elevated position. So, why is the high ground such a massive advantage in Apex? Well, for starters, vision is everything. When you're above your opponents, you have a much clearer line of sight to spot enemies, track their movements, and even identify KNOCKED DOWN players hiding behind cover. This superior awareness lets you plan your next move, predict pushes, and avoid getting flanked. Plus, it makes it easier to land shots, racking up that DAMAGE INFLICTED number much faster. Another huge benefit is cover. When you're on the high ground, you often have more natural cover options like rocks, ledges, or buildings. This means you can peek, shoot, and quickly duck back into safety, making it incredibly difficult for enemies below to hit you. They have to aim upwards, often exposing more of their body, while you only need to expose your head. It's a clear positional advantage that can win you duels every time. Securing high ground isn't always about landing on a mountain. Sometimes it's about quick rotations to a rooftop, or using a Legend's abilities to gain elevation during a fight. For instance, a PATHFINDER player on my team once grappled to an unexpected spot on a cliff, giving us the perfect angle to SQUAD WIPE an unsuspecting team below. Even in ROUND 4, when the ring is closing in, finding that small rock or elevated platform can be the difference between getting caught in the open and having a fighting chance. What about when you're the one on the low ground? It’s crucial to use utility to push or reposition. Smoke grenades, Bangalore's ultimate, or even a well-placed jump pad can help you close the gap or create a distraction. And if a teammate goes down, trying to secure a REVIVE or BANNER RECOVERY from a lower position is incredibly risky. If you can, try to pull back to higher ground first, even if it means sacrificing some ground temporarily. I remember one match where our MIRAGE managed to escape a tricky situation by popping his ultimate while retreating to a higher platform, buying us precious seconds to regroup and push back. In my experience, consistently looking for and utilizing high ground is a fundamental skill that separates good players from great ones. It significantly increases your survivability, boosts your offensive capabilities, and makes BANNER RECOVERY attempts much safer. So next time you drop into World's Edge or Storm Point, keep an eye out for those elevated positions. They are your best friends for dominating battles and securing more wins in Apex Legends!
